It's here: The Kitchen Aid Mixer

I've been coveting a kitchen aid artisan mixer for a really long time, but it's just one of those things for some reason I couldn't bring myself to buy - I know, right? So for Christmas I asked for gift cards to Williams Sonoma to buy one.  Well, the one I wanted was back ordered! It finally came this week! This thing of beauty is now on my kitchen counter begging to be used.  I thought Laura (who is super cool and has a Martha Stewart blue mixer) would help in suggesting what I should make first but she has never used hers! Insane! So, what should I make first? I like salt over sugar, so I'd rather not make a cake or something similar.   Any suggestions?

  1. I use mine ALL the time. I mostly make sweet things in it (cakes, cookies, frosting, whipped cream), but also make bread dough, pizza dough, pasta.

  2. I think you need blueberry scones:

    Whole Wheat Blueberry Scones
2 cups of white whole-wheat flour
    2-½ tsp baking powder
    ½ tsp salt
¼ cup plus one tbsp of raw sugar
    1 1/3 cup 1% milk
    1 heaping cup of blueberries
    1 tbsp of melted butter

    Pre heat oven to 400.

In a large bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt, and ¼ cup of sugar.  Stir in the milk and mix just until the dough starts to come together (it will be sticky!).  Add in the blueberries, mixing just enough to get them incorporated.

Place dough onto a floured counter top and knead briefly, just enough to bring the dough all together.  Use your hands to pat the dough down into about an 8-inch circle.

Brush the top of the dough with the melted butter and sprinkle with the remaining sugar.

Cut the dough into 8 wedges and place the wedges on a rimmed baking sheet that is lined with parchment paper or a silpat mat making sure that the scones don’t touch.

Bake for 18-20 minutes or until the scones are golden brown.

    Makes 8 scones.

  6. In honor of your blog's name, you should make your own butter! Who doesn't love homemade fat from scratch? It'll get your caloric intake up, too :)

  7. I don't personally have the pasta attachment, but my neighbor does and that's what we used when making it. It was actually super easy, except for the fact that we made ravioli, which took FORever.
